*DJ Rap is CHARISSA SAVERIO, she owns, records for, runs and A&Rs two labels Proper Talent and Improper Talent, a producer, recording artist and an actor. She has been a prime mover on the Drum & Bass scene but not content to just sit in the studio and direct, she learned her craft as an engineer and produced many classics, often while collaborating with other artists. Hits like “Spiritual Aura” changed the face of Drum and Bass and lead to the birth of Proper Talent.
*After being the first artist on the scene to self-release her first CD, she gathered interest from Sony and was soon signed to them along with the likes of Grooverider and Leftfield, where she surprised us again with a new sound. Rolling Stone Magazine gave Learning Curve three and a half stars “this is the record Madonna wanted to make.” Learning Curve went on to sell over 1000,000 bringing her total sales to over 3000,000 copies worldwide in including her successful compilation sales including Journeys By DJ, Propa Classics Vol. 1 & 2, Brave New World, Armani Exchange & touching bass, Bulletproof, up all night, which have all crossed many genres and has become DJ Rap’s trademark. Now we see the long awaited follow up to “learning curve” with “SYNTHESIS” which is a fusion of beauty, rock and electronica.

*DARA*

* A member of the infamous Planet of the Drums crew alongside fellow drum ‘n bass pioneers AK1200, Dieselboy, & J Messinian. This Irish transplant has been a dominant figure in the U.S. drum ‘n bass scene since his arrival here in 1994. His discography includes 2 critically acclaimed full length artist albums, 8 DJ mix CDs, as well as numerous singles and remixes for artists such as Freq Nasty, Afrika Bambaata and Keoki. Dara co-founded the nation’s first & largest drum ‘n bass record store Breakbeat Science with DJ DB in NYC which doubles as their own imprint, Breakbeat Science Recordings.

He has been featured in countless magazine articles and interviews both in the US and worldwide. He previously hosted one of the internet’s most popular drum ‘n bass broadcasts Velocity, where he regularly interviewed leading drum ‘n bass artists such as Jonny L, Kemistry & Storm, Trace, Ed Rush, Optical, Hype, Andy C, Zinc, and many others. Dara’s long standing relationships with the world’s drum ‘n bass elite gives him access to an astounding amount of new and unreleased material. His brilliant recording endeavors along with his incessant touring and consistently awe-inspiring DJ sets have made him one of the most recognized and well respected DJs in the country.

DB

*Arriving in New York from London in ‘89, it could be argued that no one has done more for Drum & Bass in America than DB. First with his hardcore Breakbeat club NASA, (featured in the Larry Clark film Kids) then by launching Smi)e Communications and releasing the first Jungle singles & compilations in the US, as well as signing DJ Dara, thus kick starting his career. He & Dara then opened Breakbeat Science, dedicated to Drum & Bass, it quickly became not only the most respected record store & label, but also the very epicenter of the jungle community in the US. He recently released an artist project with partner Stakka under the name Ror-Shak, focusing & pushing the limits on the more musical side of the genre, which as a DJ, is what DB has become best loved for. “Secret Art of Science 2″ is DB’s 13th mix CD in as many years. He is also partner in both the cutting edge mens lifestyle shop BBlessing & the multimedia & record label Deaf Dumb & Blind Recordings. When he has a second to spare he spends it with his wife & two small children, or tries to sleep.

DJ ODI

* The DJ Odi is one of New York City’s original old school jungle DJs. He’s known for developing the hipstep style or what some call jump-up. Odi got his start at the famous NASA parties of NYC in 1992 where he later became a resident. As his skills grew he began to spin nationally in 1995 with such well known and respected DJs as DB, On-E, Jason Jinx, Mr. Kleen, Frankie Bones, Adam X, Heather Heart, Micro, Richie Hawtin, Craze, Blueline, Phantom 45, Danny the Wildchild, Freaky Flow, J-Smooth, AK1200, Hazeus, Sniper, Mystical Influence, and the list goes on.
He’s know throughout for his crazy scratching methods that leave even the trickiest DJ awestruck. Another accreditation to Odi’s name as a solid old schooler is the fact that he was the first junglist accepted into the ZULU Nation. Odi pushes his craft to larger levels by co-founding his new crew G-Force, which consists of the forces of , Datcyde, Kazpa, Posi-D and Mc Trigga. All this creation lies on the basis of his successful foundation of New York’s Digital Konfusion. With the backing of DKNY he produced the legendary NYC outlaw event “Defying the Tribes”. Odi’s production history goes back to tracks he made in 1996: “Anthem” on the Jungle Sky Vol.
2, “Naughty Ride Remix”- Jungle Sky Recordings, “I Don’t Know” EP- BML in 1997 and “Carbon Copies” on Jungle Sky Vol. 6 in 1999. As well as the “Urban Intelligence EP.” on BML sublabel Flyswatta in 2001. He keeps his skills fresh by working on jungle, house, breaks, and hip-hop tracks in his studio in addition to dubplates played by himself, and the G-Force crew. Odi plans to one day start his own record label but for now uses G-Force’s tracks, progressive mixing and diverse track selection to set trends and keep the sound of modern jungle alive and crowds bouncing.

DJ Stress

*Hailing from the Washington, DC area, DJ Stress has been involved with the drum & bass movement in America since it’s humble beginnings. He was introduced to the rave scene in 1992 and fell in love with the early breakbeat/hardcore sound and continued to follow it as it evolved into jungle/drum & bass. Fascinated by watching the DJs spin, he was inspired to buy turntables. And a couple of years later, he teamed up with the infamous 2Tuff crew and was a prominent DJ in the DC drum & bass scene during the “Golden Years” and afterwards. DJ Stress has performed alongside such internationally known DJs such as: Grooverider, Fabio, Andy C, Ed Rush, Optical, Matrix, Decoder, Tech Itch, LTJ Bukem, DJ Trace, Dieselboy, to name a few. He’s also spun at the legendary events like Buzz, DC Armory parties(w/Ultraworld), & Winter Music Conference 98/99. DJ Stress decided to part ways with 2Tuff in 2000 and moved to New York City in 2003.
Now he’s a resident at one of NYC’s premier drum & bass nights “The Secret Night of Science” with the venerable DB.
